Points of Articulation Studio was founded in 2025, by Marissa Allen, as a multi-disciplinary design studio, combining her nerdy passion for technical details, and understanding how things are constructed, with a love of the arts & artisan communities.
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
We believe that design is not a zero sum game, and one of the goals of POA is to support other designers, architects, artists, & small manufacturers, so that we can all be more successful together. Whether that’s through building out templates, that allow designers to document their ideas faster so they can focus on the design, sharing expertise, information, and sources, or shining a spotlight on artist’s & artisans work.
MARISSA ALLEN
PRINCIPAL & FOUNDER
Over the past fourteen years, Marissa has worked at both boutique hospitality and larger San Francisco based design firms, including NICOLEHOLLIS & AvroKO. Her experience spans a variety of hospitality projects; including historic conversions, renovations, and new construction, for clients including Rosewood, Four Seasons, One&Only, Ritz-Carlton, Kimpton, Hilton, Hyatt, and Starbucks.
Her experience working on hotels and restaurants, paired with a background in high-end residential, kitchen & bath design, workplace, and retail projects, brings a focus on quality, human-centered design, and an attention to detail to everything she designs. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture & Design from the Academy of Art University.
